Larissa Burnett – Forageplus Employee

Larissa joined the Forageplus team in March 2016 as part of our need to grow and have more staff in our warehouse.

Larissa works with Terry to organise the stock in the warehouse, weigh out, label, track the batches and make sure there are stocks of products for Daisy and Vicky to ship to our customers.

Larissa loves endurance riding and represented Wales in Ireland at the Home Championships in 2016.

She says:

Coming from central Basingstoke originally, I didn’t grow up with a horse orientated background at all. I graduated from Worcester University with a 1st Class degree in Public Service Management, and worked in London in central government, and then the Fire and Rescue Service Prince’s Trust partnership in Hampshire.

With my first paycheque from the Fire and Rescue Service I fulfilled my dream and bought my own horse, Gemini. There ensured a steep learning curve with my totally unsuitable bucking, rearing and bolting ‘first’ horse (followed a year later by a second horse, a beautiful Arabian foal). Not long after I followed my other half to North Wales where I had a change of direction and did my BHS training in a range of equine settings in the area, via Northop College. I was a groom for the Riding for the Disabled for a year, before deciding on a less ‘weather affected’ job at Forageplus, in March 2016.

Already a customer of Forageplus prior, I’ve learnt lots more since arriving. At the same time as starting here, I embarked on what I had always wanted to do, competing in Endurance with my now grown up Arabian mare, Moon. This year, our first Novice year for both of us, has been surprisingly successful, resulting in Moon and I competing as part of the national Welsh Endurance Team in September. We helped to retain the Celtic Challenge trophy for Wales at the Home Internationals, held in Ireland this year. We have managed to do this barefoot, not a bad achievement considering Moon is laminitic and requires a bit of careful management; however she is supported nutritionally with Forageplus products, which has contributed to our success.

Alongside this, I volunteer each week lunging for my local Riding for the Disabled vaulting groups, and am also the RDA North Wales Region Publicity Officer. My passions are people and horses, and what they can achieve together, and for each other. In my spare time I just enjoy being with my two horses, cats, and my partner Sam, all of whom I am so lucky to have in my life.
