Designed for optimum health, our formula provides excellent support of strong laminae in horses. Forageplus Laminae-Plus is particularly safe to feed to good doer horses being very low in sugar and starch and containing no fillers and only the highest purity minerals and vitamins to aid a strong immune and metabolic system.

In addition we have formulated a horse feed balancer so that it includes high levels of vitamin E for antioxidant support, a probiotic and a toxin binder.  We include vitamin A as horses needing normal metabolic support are often given straw or hay older than 1 year to control weight gain. This type of forage will be low in vitamin A. The minerals used are of a high quality to ensure against contamination with heavy metals and enable good absorption and the lowest iron formulation.

All Forageplus horse feed balancers are powders and are best carried in a high fibre, fast soak feed or chop of your choice.

Forageplus recommends the feeding of additional micronised linseed with this horse feed balancer as horses on a predominantly hay/haylage diet, and on a low-sugar diet, will need some essential fatty aids adding to their diet.  Fatty acids such as omega 3 are reduced in the hay curing process. This balancer will ensure good levels of the essential fat omega 3 to maintain and support excellent health, strong hooves and work with the bodies natural anti-inflammatory processes.

Good doer horses on a controlled hay only diet will need vital nutrients adding to the diet due for careful, successful management of grass intake and weight issues.

Laminae-Plus matches nutrients to the forage consumed by a horse. Supplying correct levels of nutrients in forage, as matched to ratios determined by the National Research Council, is an important consideration when maintaining and supporting:

  • healthy structurally sound and robust hooves with a strong laminae connection
  • healthy frogs
  • a well functioning metabolic system
  • healthy skin
  • vibrant, shiny coat colour
  • robust tendons, ligaments and joints
  • healthy muscles
  • healthy nerves
  • healthy lungs and breathing
  • good fertility and bone
  • a healthy digestive system
  • strong liver function
  • healthy joints

Which horses suit this Forageplus balancer?

Horses that are prone to weight gain, on a low sugar diet and need to maintain a normal metabolic system. A low iron formulation is vital for these horses. The addition of other minerals, vitamins, a probiotic and toxin binder whist maintaining the lowest sugar and starch content possible allow for safe feeding of vulnerable horses. High levels of copper, zinc and magnesium will provide nutritional support for correct metabolic function.

If your horse is able to be turned out on pasture for limited times, to keep sugar intake as low as possible, then consider using either our other Hoof Health Balancers or Forageplus Performance Balancer

How does Forageplus formulate their horse feed balancers?

We have a very different approach to the levels of nutrients which starts with the grass, hay or haylage horses eat. Find out more about how we use statistical analysis of hundreds of scientific reports of forage to formulate the levels in our horse feed balancers here.

I was very pleased to find a balancer suitable for my tiny pony who eats a low sugar diet and whom we manage very carefully. I add a small quantity to her little ‘low cal’ feeds (also with the company’s gutplus supplement added) and am very pleased that she finds it palatable and eats the feeds enthusiastically!

It’s so hard to find a balancer suitable for good doers that have a history of needing to maintain a low sugar diet and need the best hoof support, this is great!

Tried all sorts of balancers with my pony. He’s very choosy but followed the instructions and introduced gradually with no problems. Tiny handful of feed to act as a carrier for the balancer and he’s licking his bowl clean. Because he’s on a restricted grass diet with a mixture of hay and straw I was concerned he wasn’t getting enough of the vitamins and minerals he needs. This balancer certainly gives peace of mind and he’s looking brilliant on it.

I have seen slight improvements to my boy but he hasn’t been using it for long. Going to keep it up and see how it goes

Our ponies have been on this balancer for over a year. It’s gives me peace of mind knowing they are getting everything they need whilst being managed on a restricted grass diet and soaked hay. I don’t need to constantly search for other products as I know they are getting their recommended daily allowances, whereas other products don’t always offer this. Their hooves are looking really good with nice tight white lines and it also means I don’t have to give a feed apart from a small carrier. They have no problem with eating the full daily measure.

I struggle to find a suitable balancer for my pony that he will eat so the trial pack was ideal. Introduced the balancer very gradually as suggested. Still not up to the feed rate recommended but he licks the bowl out and is looking good.

My 24 year old has thin soles, eats a low sugar diet and needs a low iron diet. She has been on this supplement since January along with Vit E and is for the first time developing more sole. I am thrilled.

I have a very good doer with tiny feet. She’s on a low sugar & starch diet and in the fatty paddock. This is one of very few balancers that covers this scenario

My very good doer Fjord is doing really well on this low sugar balancer, together with linseed and seaweed; balancing ForagePlus bagged meadow hay. Sadly, another quality manufacturer’s balancer did not agree with her hooves, but since changing to Laminae-Plus balancer we haven’t looked back. Her feet are growing great quality hoof and I am delighted!

My pony who is a good doer and needs a low sugar diet has been on this for a long time now. His feet are wonderful, his coat is great and he loves eating this. And the super quick delivery is always appreciated. I won’t use anything else for my pony as he does so we’ll on this.

An excellent balancer for all 4 of my horses. I noticed a positive change in all of them very quickly. I was feeding a balancer I thought was very well formulated but this one takes the biscuit. I will continue with it.

Week three using this on my TB who has terrible feet and needs to maintain his white line connection. He is very well in himself on this balancer not gaining weight which is what we want he’s a good doer and big for his breed which puts extra pressure on feet used to use top spec anti lam but didn’t see the results in his feet or coat on that this balancer is easy to feed mixed in with Speedi beet

My pony had to be removed from the grass at the end of winter when he started to look footy. He now lives in an almost grass free environment eating only hay. I did so much reading and wanted to find one product that covered everything he might need to support his health. This product seemed to tick all the boxes and he looks well on it. The other two horses have joined him on his track so he is not alone and I feed it to them all now. Been through two tubs so far and everyone is looking great. Before finding Forageplus the first product I tried contained a couple of things I wasn’t keen on… this one just has the good stuff.

I have been using this for my Thoroughbred. He has great new hoof growth and is now hacking out barefoot after only a few months of using this product.

Me and my horse like to cover many miles over varied terrain. He needs to maintain normal metabolic function. This is the only barefoot formula which enables us to do this with him in complete comfort without boots. I have in the past tried switching to other formulas thinking they are all pretty similar but have always regretted it as I was left with a sore and footy horse. It has definitely kept us out of shoes. Highly recommended

My horse needs to maintain normal function. She has been on this balancer now for seven months as part of managing her diet. Managing her diet has supported her improvement. Her management has included being on a strict diet, exercise, and homeopathic treatment, which have all played a part in her recovery. For the last four months she has been able to be ridden and we are now back to all normal activity. My trimmer has commented on how fantastic her feet now look. Sarah from Forage Plus also analysed her hay and has given me a lot of helpful advice on supplementary feeding, and has also been extremely encouraging about my horse’s future prospects providing I manage to keep her weight off. I would very much recommend Sarah and ForagePlus, as she has been very supportive and appears to be up to date with the latest evidence. I am sure the Laminae-Plus Balancer will continue to support my horse and she looks great on it.

This balancer, which is suitable for fat horses, has been great for my pony. He is looking fantastic and is walking happily out to the field and carrying my daughter along the tracks near us. We couldn’t analyse our forage so this was a great option.
