This ultra-low iron, equine balancer has been formulated for winter feeding using data obtained from scientific analysis of our many samples of forage. It contains only the commonly deficient minerals found to be needed to balance a forage-based diet.
All Forageplus Balancers are powders, are very low in sugar and starch, contain no fillers and only the highest purity minerals and vitamins. The balancers are best carried in a high fibre, fast soak feed or chop of your choice. If your horse is on a reduced grass or hay/haylage only diet then Winter Balancer is perfect as it contains high levels of vitamin E to maintain antioxidant processes to help neutralise against free radicals in the body.
Forageplus recommends the feeding of additional micronised linseed throughout the winter months or if a horse is on a predominantly hay/haylage diet. This will ensure good levels of the essential fat omega 3 to maintain and support excellent health.
This product is particularly useful for those unable to take forage samples for analysis or those wishing to add further products from a base that contains no iron or manganese but good levels of copper, zinc and magnesium. [pullquote]”My horse has looked stunning all winter on your product. His skin on his heels has remained without sores or mud fever, a great product and makes so much sense once you understand about ratios and matching minerals to the levels found in hay or haylage”. Martina Fox, Wirral[/pullquote]

I decided to try this balancer after researching vitamin and mineral requirements, as the previous one I used was lacking in certain things. I also wanted to try an alfalfa free diet.
I wasn’t sure how well my older horse would take to it, but both my geldings love it and happily lick the bowl clean. They’ll even come back into their restricted paddock for their feed when they’ve been out on the richer grass area! The amount to feed is less than certain other balancers too, which makes it really easy to pack up for weekends away.
I’d definitely recommend this product.

Started using this product and the end of summer and the results are amazing! Really good for encouraging my horse to drink more too!

I have been using the winter balancer for my PPID and IR 24 yr old mare and shes doing beautifully. It gives me reassurance that I have FPlus behind me and that Lola is getting all she needs year round.

I have used this product for many years now, and i cannot fail it. I always recommend and have always had great results. As a tip for fussy feeders, I feed a sprinkle of Beetroot powder and mix with a cupful of soaked A & P fast fiber as a carrier. never had a problem feeding when fed like this.

I’ve just started using my second bag of Winter Balancer on a rather difficult to feed Fell. He only has this and Topline Plus in some soaked Timothy nuts and looks amazing, nice shiny coat and strong barefoot hooves. Crucially this does not blow his brains! I’ve tried so many different types of feed, balancers, etc and so many have made him positively unpleasant to handle but so far so good on this!

Great product, my horse is super fussy but loves his Winter Balancer !

My horse has had a really tough 12 months for various reasons… he went from being very over weight to under weight and struggling to put any back on. Forage Plus have been amazing with their feed advise including the winter balancer and my horses feels and looks better than in a long time! I highly recommend.

I have been feeding ForagePlus balancer a to my mare for around 2 years now – both winter and summer according to time of year. She is gleaming and the absolute picture of health. When I got her she was a typical skinny TB with a scurfy coat and flakey hooves – these balances made all the difference and she now looks more quarter horse than race horse! I never have a problem with her eating her feed with either balancer in it and wouldn’t feed anything else.

I am very happy with this balancer and just about to purchase another! My horses have never looked so healthy. I have used many supplements but have never noticed such a difference as I have with ForagePlus.

The winter balancer suits my Irish Draught down to the ground! We are on restricted grazing so the added vitamin E is perfect for year round use. He has a settled tum and gleams… not bad for a grey!

I breed shetlandponies and use this product, its suites my hay perfectly and it gives all my ponies nice coat and a balanced stomach. And they eat all of it, I like that it is in powder form since the ponies like it a lot better in their feed.

I’ve been using the winter balancer for a couple of months now with four horses. All horses are very happy to eat it mixed in with a small amount of fast fibre and are all looking well on it. I’ve now submitted grass for testing and am looking forward to getting a balancer specifically adjusted for our pasture from the very helpful people at Forageplus.

Have had my very scruffy Fell pony on the Winter Balancer for a few months as his coat and mane were showing a lot of dry hair and brown colouring when I got him. He has recently gone for schooling and the owner of the yard sent me a photo of him in his stable the first night, his coat gleamed even though it was December and he had only had a quick flick over by me with brush. As a result of how well he looks and my recommendation both the yard owner and other liveries are now using Forageplus. I am really happy with how both my ponies (both Natives living out uncliped) look and work on a hay diet with a low cal chaff and Forageplus Winter balancer.

I have 3 highland ponies all of who are fed winter balancer. One of the ponies is insulin resistant and therefore has no access to grazing ever. She is fed the balancer all year round and looks wonderful on it. Her coat is shiny and her feet are the best of all 3 ponies. I would highly recommend this balancer especially if you have poor or restricted grazing.

Winter balancer was suggested by my instructor /yard manager & I’m so glad I went ahead. My boy is looking & feeling great, his coat is the best it’s ever been. He’s suffered with a bit of mud fever in the past but his heels are looking really good & the farrier says he’s hooves are growing really well. This is a great product & worth every penny, i look forward to using the summer one too.

I bought this for my Welsh D due to him having tendon surgery and needing to be stabled for a couple of months with no access to pasture. He isn’t shod but has always struggled with white line separation and slow growing hooves. This balancer has been a game changer, coming back into work he is bright eyed and with a lovely shine to his coat, his hooves are growing well and his white line is now lovely and tight, no more picking small stones out of it!
I can’t lie I was dubious as he’s previously turned his nose up at other powdered balancers but with a slow introduction he ate this well from day one. This is a great balancer which we will be sticking to.

All 3 of my Highland ponies are on this balancer. One of them in particular is Insulin resistant so has no grass whatsoever. She is in amazing condition. I have been feeding this for a number of years and highly recommend it. It takes the worry out of ensuring that she has all the nutrients that she needs.

I have been using the winter balancer (in addition to the summer balancer) for a few years now and my horses have strong barefoot hooves that do lots of hacking out. They are healthy with beautiful coats and I don’t have problems with mud fever or thrush even in wet conditions. Thank you for these wonderful products. Keri x
