Containing optimum levels of high-quality minerals for growing youngsters, as directed by the National Research Councils guidelines.

This balancer covers the commonly deficient minerals, vitamins and amino acids found to be needed to match ratios in the hay or grass your horse eats.

This approach supports optimum, healthy growth in all young horses and develops resilient, robust healthy adults.

How to feed the balancer?

All of our Balancers are powders, very low in sugar and starch and free from any fillers, bulking agents or additives.

We use the highest-purity minerals and vitamins, ensuring against contamination from heavy metals, and maximising absorption rates.

All of our balancers are best carried in a high-fibre, fast-soak fibre of your choice.

We have a handy video here on how to best feed the balancer.

If your horse is on reduced or restricted grazing, or a hay/haylage only diet, then opting for the winter version of this balancer would be best.

Additional Information

Forageplus recommends this horse supplement is used with access to green and growing pasture plus the straights; alfalfa, beet pulp, wheat bran and or copra. The feeding of these straights will compliment both the balancer and the general profile of forage in the UK and Europe whilst adding useful additional major minerals, trace minerals and protein.

For horses above the age of two, supplementing with additional salt at 10 – 25 grams per day may also be beneficial to support healthy growth. This will ensure excellent levels of sodium, supporting the healthy growth of bones.

Where young horses need further support of the hoof wall, white line and frog or skin, we recommend the use of both our B-Vitamin Plus and the additional Essential Amino Acids in the daily diet.

Please note that to be completely sure that your youngstock is receiving optimum levels of protein and minerals, Forageplus advises both a nutritional and mineral analysis of the forage being fed so we can check levels for you.

This product is particularly useful for those unable to take forage samples for analysis or those wishing to add further products from a base that contains no iron or manganese but good levels of copper and zinc.

I put our 4 year old horse onto this balance about 4 months ago, we suffered behavioural problems with our young mare and was feeding her a strong and very expensive calmer.
Since feeding the balancer we have completely eliminated the need for a calmer and her behaviour now is as good as you will get for a chestnut mare! She looks the picture of health, good hooves and stunning coat. I would recommend anyone to try this!

Recently put my rising 2yold on this and although I’m only feeding him a third of the recommended amount, I feel it is a product that I can trust to top up minerals he may be missing being on poorer grazing but with lots of hay. He has it mixed into soaked grass nuts and a little hi fi lite and he is eating it all up.

I did a lot of research before choosing a balancer for my yearling. Forageplus Young horse balancer fitted the bill and I’ve used it ever since. My mares coat is silky and shiny and her overall health is excellent.

This is what the young ones get fed when they’re turned away and it keeps them in great condition.

Put my yearling on this balancer, it’s still early days as he has only been on it 3 weeks BUT the difference in his coat already is insane, he has always been very dull, no shine, very sunbleached & has almost damaged looking coat but already he has a shine, has completely changed colour from the blond sunbleached to dark chocolate with tons of dapples, his coat is shining for the first time & the damaged sunbleached hair is slowly but very surely disappearing he just has a pat h on his back left to go.
He seems abit more chilled in himself as he is quiet sharp, his thrushy feet are clearing up and he has really chuncked out. He looks great, big improvement….. I do wish however they did this as a feed, like pellets etc as it would be very useful when you have one you don’t want getting fat but have to feed hard feed to out the balancer powder in however I will definitely continue using. 👌

I bought this as my 3yr old mare was eating mouthfuls of dirt! She was on a different brand of balancer but obviously wasn’t getting what she needed from it. I’ve not seen her touch the dirt since starting this, she also has a nice shine to her coat, her hooves look great and I am happy knowing that she’s getting everything that she needs.

I have put both of my two year olds on Young Horse Balancer for the last 10 months, both have lovely shiny coats, they had hoof troubles which have now gone since being on the balancer and I have had comments from my farrier on how much their feet have improved. They are also less itchy and generally more content.
