Devil’s Claw Root Powder for Horses
Devil’s claw is the dried root of Harpagophytum procumbens, a plant native to the Kalahari region of southern Africa. It has become one of the most widely fed herbs for horses in work, and for good reason.
Our powder is standardised to 5% harpagoside, so you know exactly what your horse is getting from one batch to the next.

Whether your horse is enjoying their later years or in regular work, their joints and muscles are busy every day. The horse’s own systems regulate inflammation as part of normal, everyday joint and muscle function.
Devil’s claw root contains a group of naturally occurring compounds called iridoid glycosides, the best known of which is harpagoside. These compounds aid the natural systems that regulate inflammation, supporting joint and muscle comfort and normal, free movement.
It is fed to older horses, and to horses in regular or demanding work, to support healthy joint function and mobility.

How to Feed
Introduce gradually over a week, mixed into a small, low-sugar feed. Feed at the lower end of the range for horses at rest or in light work, and towards the upper end for horses in hard work or competition.
500kg Horse:
- 5 grams per day = 100 days
- 10 grams per day = 50 days
- 20 grams per day = 25 days
Feeding Instructions:
- 1 x 5ml scoop = approx. 3.7g
- 1 x 10ml scoop = approx. 7.4g
- 1 x 15ml scoop = approx. 11.1g
- 1 x 25ml scoop = approx. 18.5g
