This ultra low iron, equine balancer has been formulated for superior support of hoof laminae using data obtained from scientific analysis of our many samples of forage. It contains only the commonly deficient minerals, vitamins and amino acids found to be needed to help support horses who need to maintain strong laminae.

Designed for optimum health, our formula provides excellent support of strong laminae in horses. Forageplus Laminae-Plus is particularly safe to feed to horses prone to laminitis being very low in sugar and starch and containing no fillers and only the highest purity minerals and vitamins to aid a strong immune system.

In addition we have formulated our product so that it includes high levels of vitamin E for antioxidant support, a probiotic and a toxin binder.  We include vitamin A as horses prone to laminitis are often given straw or hay older than 1 year to control weight gain. The minerals used are of a high quality to ensure against contamination with heavy metals and enable good absorption and the lowest iron formulation.

All Forageplus Balancers are powders and are best carried in a high fibre, fast soak feed or chop of your choice.

Forageplus recommends the feeding of additional micronised linseed with this balancer as horses on a predominantly hay/haylage diet due to grass sensitivity may be short of some essential fatty acids. This will ensure good levels of the essential fat omega 3 to maintain and support excellent health, strong hooves and work with the bodies natural anti-inflammatory processes.

Metabolic horses are often short of vital nutrients in the diet due to needing careful management of grass intake and weight issues.

Laminae-Plus matches nutrients to the forage consumed by a horse. Supplying correct levels of nutrients in forage, as matched to ratios determined by the National Research Council, is an important consideration when maintaining and supporting:

  • healthy structurally sound and robust hooves with a strong laminae connection
  • healthy frogs
  • a well functioning metabolic system
  • healthy skin
  • vibrant, shiny coat colour
  • robust tendons, ligaments and joints
  • healthy muscles
  • healthy nerves
  • healthy lungs and breathing
  • good fertility and bone
  • a healthy digestive system
  • strong liver function
  • healthy joints

Feed this balancer to horses and ponies in maintenance to light work, in winter, from October to April. Horses which do not have adequate access to green and growing pasture should be fed this version all year round to ensure adequate levels of vitamin E are maintained. My pony had chronic laminitis last year, even though removed from the grass at the end of winter when he started to look footy. He now lives in an almost grass free environment eating only hay. I did so much reading and wanted to find one product that covered everything he might need to support his health. This product seemed to tick all the boxes and he looks well on it. The other two horses have joined him on his track so he is not alone and I feed it to them all now. Been through two tubs so far and everyone is looking great. Before finding Forageplus the first product I tried contained a couple of things I wasn’t keen on… this one just has the good stuff.

I have been using this for my Insulin Resistant Thoroughbred. He has great new hoof growth and is now hacking out barefoot after only a few months of using this product.

I have a very metabolically sensitive horse and we like to cover many miles over varied terrain. This is the only barefoot formula which enables us to do this with him in complete comfort without boots. I have in the past tried switching to other formulas thinking they are all pretty similar but have always regretted it as I was left with a sore and footy horse. It has definitely kept us out of shoes. Highly recommended

My horse has Equine Metabolic Syndrome which was diagnosed last year after her second bout of laminitis. She has been on this balancer now for seven months as part of managing her diet. Managing her diet has supported her improvement. Her management has included being on a strict diet, exercise, and homeopathic treatment, which have all played a part in her recovery. For the last four months she has been able to be ridden and we are now back to all normal activity. My trimmer has commented on how fantastic her feet now look. Sarah from Forage Plus also analysed her hay and has given me a lot of helpful advice on supplementary feeding, and has also been extremely encouraging about my horse’s future prospects providing I manage to keep her weight off. I would very much recommend Sarah and ForagePlus, as she has been very supportive and appears to be up to date with the latest evidence. I am sure the Laminae-Plus Balancer will continue to support my horse and she looks great on it.

This balancer, which is suitable for laminitis prone horses, has been great for my pony. He is looking fantastic and is walking happily out to the field and carrying my daughter along the tracks near us. We couldn’t analyse our forage so this was a great option.
